Dear Friends & Family,
As a previous volunteer at Children's Hospital 4WEST Playroom and a current Tulane medical student, I know how much attention needs to be raised for children's cancer. My first day working the 4-West playroom located on Children Hospital's cancer ward was truly inspiring. For many of the patients and families on 4-West, the playroom is a temporary escape from pain, stress, and tears. I enjoy providing entertainment and friendship to these remarkable kids. Their undying love, faith, and strength are clearly visible and breathtaking. I for one am so glad that I have the opportunity to help create fun and joyful moments for some of the most inspirational people I have ever met. I am also extremely proud to have worked with the previous NOLA CureSearch Walk and now the Thomas Morstead's What You Give Will Grow Cancer Walk with Children's Hospital.
As a committee member, I help plan New Orleans' annual childhood cancer walk. The Jazz Half Marathon has welcomed out committee with open arms, and we are so excited continuing this partnership for the Children's Cancer walk. The walk will celebrate and honor children whose lives have been affected by children’s cancer, while raising funds for the cancer program at our local Children's Hospital.
Every day, 35 children are diagnosed with pediatric cancer – 7 of those children will not survive. Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children. Although the cure rate is now 78% – up by 30% in the last 20 years – it is not good enough. Our goal is a 100% cure rate.
Please consider making a donation to my campaign – there is no gift too small. Forward this to your friends and family... OR even consider joining our team, Kiefers for Kids, to walk on SATURDAY, November 1, 2014 in Lafayette Square and spread the word about this great organization. We will have plenty of food and great entertainment. The walk will even be led by Mardi Gras Indians this year! Hope to see you there.
Thank you so much for your support. I can promise that you are making a difference in the lives of all those affected by children’s cancer. This cause is extremely important to me, and I appreciate any help you can give.
With love and hope,
