BENEFITING: Odanadi Us Inc
The must-watch film Lion tells the incredible true story of Saroo Brierley, an impoverished Indian child who at age 5 lost his home and family — only to find them again 25 years later with the help of Google Earth.
While this movie had a happy ending, the reality is very different for millions of vulnerable children around the world. In India alone, over 80,000 children are orphaned or abandoned each year.
Let’s do something about it together.
In September, three friends — Gautam Upadhya, Ping Chen, and Bhargav Setlur — will trek Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. For every step we take, we’re raising $1 for Odanadi, an organization based in Mysore, India that works to combat trafficking and exploitation of women and children.
Based in Mysore, India, Odanadi (odanadi.org) works to stop human trafficking and exploitation, and help those who have already been victimized.
Here’s what they do:
- Shelter, feed, and house several dozen girls and boys in two separate residential facilities
- Counsel victims of trafficking and provide financial support
- Train police to better identify and disrupt trafficking networks
- Lobby government organizations for increased support for victims
We’re setting the ambitious goal of raising $50,000 to help this incredible organization. With your support we can make it possible for Odanadi to expand its operations and reach many more vulnerable children.
We're asking for your support in the amount of $25, $50, $100, $200, or more to help us reach this goal.
The fundraiser will run from now until September 9th, the date on which we plan to summit Kilimanjaro. We’ll post regular updates from week to week. All proceeds will go directly to Odanadi.
