BENEFITING: NEW HOPE FOR CAMBODIAN CHILDREN
When he was only 5 years old, Chhouy, an orphan with HIV, nearly died. The link below describes the extreme ordeal he underwent due to the simple unavailability of a dialysis machine in Cambodia.
This past summer I had the opportunity to volunteer at New Hope for Cambodian Children (NHCC), a non-profit dedicated to seeking and providing aid to orphans living with HIV/AIDS. This organization provides housing and on-site education to nearly 220 children such as Chhouy, in addition to distributing HIV medication to over 1,200 children who live with their families.
Sponsoring one child costs just $40 a month, equating to $480 a year. ALL of these funds go towards the child's nutritional, medical, and educational needs, which I have seen firsthand while consulting for the organization during a one month period.
My time at NHCC was an incredible experience; the kids are so excited, happy, and healthy. It is truly difficult to remember that these children are HIV positive because they are so active and energetic, just like any other kid. NHCC gives their children the resources to excel in life regardless of their health status, and I would like to help this organization continue its great work.
To do this, I need your help. I will be running the North Face Endurance Challenge Marathon in Ontario, Canada this July 18, 2015.
42km of trail running to reach my goal of $480 for NHCC.
You can make a huge difference in their lives by donating.
