Kimberly Geczi wrote -Howdy everybody! My name is Kim Geczi and welcome to my Gran Fondo 2013 Fundraising page! This is the third year in a row that my dad and I have been riding in the Gran Fondo NJ and we have had the great opportunity to fundraise for a cause very near and dear to our hearts.
My family and myself have been puppy raisers for The Seeing Eye for over 17 years now and are currently raising our 20th Seeing Eye Puppy, Porter. Porter is a 13 month old male German Shepherd puppy, and pretty soon he will leave our home to hopefully fulfill his destiny and become a full fledged Seeing Eye Dog. Aside from being a volunteer puppy raiser, I also work at The Seeing Eye as an Instructor, so I get to train these wonderful puppies into Guide Dogs and match them with their blind or visually impaired individuals.
Two years ago when I asked my dad, who is an avid cyclist, if he would ride with me in the Gran Fondo I thought it'd be a piece of cake! I figured I walk all day training Seeing Eye dogs- I would have no trouble riding a bicycle 43 miles. Well, I was wrong! My dad really helped me a lot, teaching me and training with me until I was fit and conditioned to ride. We had so much fun we signed up for the next year and decided to amp it up a bit and decided on 63 miles!
This year, my dad and I will be riding in the Gran Fondo again, side by side for 63 miles, and we are fundraising for The Seeing Eye. Please help support The Seeing Eye by making a donation to my page. Thank you, and we'll see you at the finish line!
