BENEFITING: Kimberton Farms School, Inc.
Where that which comes from within a student is as important as what is taught from without.
Where intellectual creativity, emotional understanding and hands-on experience are combined, sending forth graduates who are intelligent, passionate and confident.
Where students are prepared... not for the world as it is now, but to remake the world into what it should be.
And that's not copy from some school promotional material. I just wrote it off the cuff.
I am one of the lucky few parents in this country who has access - and the financial ability - to send my child to a Waldorf school. Waldorf schools - much more common across Europe but growing in numbers here in the US - are non-profit, but since they do not receive funding from the government, they must charge tuition to cover teacher salaries and all of their expenses.
The enrollment fee for each child is $500 - a major hurdle for many working families, especially in this economy.
This project aims to raise $500 so that the school may waive the enrollment fee for a child this year, helping to open the door to one more family who - without this financial support - would not be able to attend.
And what happens when they make it into the school - how will they continue to pay tuition? Well, the school offers financial aid to more than 40% of the children who attend, and they work closely with each family to find a way to help.
