BENEFITING: Blood Water Mission
EVENT DATE: May 31, 2013
It's become increasingly important for my life not to be about myself, including my birthday. I LOVE my birthday and always have. 1 day where I can eat where I want, forget that calories exist, and be celebrated - but so many people never get that opportunity because of preventable diseases or situations, so what better of a day to bring awareness to that and help than my favorite day?
Over the past 5 years, life has taken me on an interesting adventure that has landed me, my husband, and our 2 dogs in Portland, Oregon serving students through youth ministry and my position at a local university. We LOVE it!! Life is a roller coaster and throws some crazy stuff at you but hold on tight, pray, and move as you feel called and it will be a grand adventure! A caper as one of my favorite authors - Bob Goff- would say.
I've had a heart for the past few years surrounding clean water and the issues (malaria, preventable diseases, lack of education/job training, etc. etc.) surrounding the lack of it. I do not drink bottled water anymore, and instead always have a refillable bottle with me as an act of ensuring I am not contributing to the issue by drinking non-free water when tap water is available. So i now have a Blood:Water Mission water bottle to take this a step further.
$1 spent on a bottle of water can provide clean water for 1 person for a year....so why should I pay for water when the tap is free..
My invitation to you is to help me raise $2,500 (corresponding to my 25th birthday) for Blood Water Mission to help drill new wells, install rain catchment systems, and other valuable services needed to provide clean, safe drinking water so that
• children can go to school
• women can go to school
• people can have more birthdays
• children can be children
• women can work to support their families
• new ideas can become realities
• and so forth....
Love does, so this is me doing! Please help me help these communities.
