Dear Friends,

We have just posted a report about the lasting impact of your very generous donation supporting Team Colon Cancer Challenge. Here's the unedited update from the field:

PROJECT UPDATE:
June 4, 2015
‘The Answer Is In Our DNA’

We recently caught up with CCCF Research Fellow Kate McNamara and asked her to tell us why her work is important, worth the effort and worth your very generous support. This is what she had to say.

“What I think about is a billboard hanging outside of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre that reads … 'The answer is in DNA'. You see … even cancers related to environmental exposures develop in the context of genetic susceptibility and genetic events. The science of analyzing the human genome is rapidly evolving and is allowing us to better understand cancer development and how to effectively screen and treat so as to save lives. Toronto and other elite cancer centers are pioneering this science but this is possible only with funding support and the efforts of clinicians, scientists, support staff, investors, and all persons contributing to the cause in any way.”

We couldn’t agree more and with your help we can fund Kate’s work for another successful year. To learn more about Kate and the incredible team at the Zane Cohen Centre for Digestive Diseases (ZCC) take a look at their spring newsletter. http://bit.ly/1KOVai6

To read the entire Project Update visit our website at http://coloncancerchallenge.org

Our sincere thanks for your ongoing commitment to our vision of "A World Without Colorectal Cancer."

Dear Friend,

I would like to sincerely thank you for your recent donation on behalf of one of our NYC Half Marathon Team members. Every donation helps ensure that we can continue our life-saving research focused on early-age onset of colorectal cancer.

With your help we were able organize and co-host the nation's first Summit focused on Early Age Onset of Colorectal Cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on March 20th. The Summit was broadcast live by our partner Healtheo360 and video coverage is still available at http://www.healtheo360.com/livestream/h360-live-early-age-onset-colorectal-cancer-summit/.

I know there are a lot of other ways you could have spent this money, but you believe in our mission of A World Without Colorectal Cancer, so you chose to invest it in our project. Because of this investment, I want you to feel like part of our team - Team Colon Cancer Challenge. We're in this together. We want our success to be your success.

Until our project is fully funded, we will be sending you regular reports about the work we are doing. You'll know what your donation has helped fund, what accomplishments we have achieved and what our current needs are.

I hope you find this partnership valuable and worthwhile. I know the economy is tough, so thank you for investing your hard-earned money on our cause. Please consider telling your friends and family about our project - share this link https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/coloncancerchallenge/ on your blogs or social networks, use the tell-a-friend feature on the project page to email your network, or just bring us up in conversation. You know your friends and family best, so use your own words - tell them why you chose the Colon Cancer Challenge and what it means to you.

Thank you again for all you have done to help this cause.

With gratitude,

Thank you for your recent donation on behalf of one of our Team Colon Cancer Challenge members.

Each of our runners have been directly impacted by colorectal cancer and each step they take as they tackle the 13.1 miles of the United Airlines New York City Half Marathon is a step closer toward a cure.

As we close in on the big day we just want you to know how amazing you are. With your help we have raised close to $40,000! And we're pretty sure we will hit that mark in the next week or so. That's over 250% of our original goal. Your contributions are directly impacting our ability to keep our research fellow (Dr. Kate McNamara) focused on finding the cause of Early Age Onset of colorectal cancer. We have posted a project update on Kate's work (http://coloncancerchallenge.org) and have an opportunity for you to hear from her directly on March 21 at the nation's first Summit focused on Early Age Onset of CRC right here in NYC.

To learn more visit http://events.coloncancerchallenge.org.

We hope you will consider joining us for our signature event - The Colon Cancer Challenge - it's an opportunity to honor those we have lost to the disease and celebrate those who have achieved a victory.

Registration is still open. http://events.coloncancerchallenge.org

Our sincere thanks for you generous support of our Mission - A World Without Colorectal Cancer.
