BENEFITING: Marijuana Policy Project Foundation
In lieu of gifts for my upcoming Greatest Birthday Ever, please consider joining me in the fight that pays my bills, keeps me motivated, and inspires me every day.
It's not about stoners hanging out in basements watching bad movies (OK, it's a little bit about that). It's about the thousands of people in prison, on probation, fined or dead not because a substance they used is particularly harmful, but because that substance is illegal.
Marijuana has proven medical benefits, very few side effects, and is generally pretty groovy. And yet the legal opinion of the United States Government (and that of many states) is that they would rather people die than be allowed to use marijuana.
The evidence for this position is everywhere. Check out http://www.mpp.org/our-work/victims/victim-stories.html to read about many, but not nearly all, of the lives destroyed by marijuana prohibition.
Luckily, I get to go to work every day for the Marijuana Policy Project, where we're changing laws one state at a time. We were the main group behind the legalization of recreational marijuana for adult use in Colorado, and we have a plan for changing the law everywhere. We need your help to make it happen!
