Kindergarten mom murdered
Organized by: John Cockroft
On Monday, February 8, 2016, I got a text from my son's school in Fair Grove, Missouri. A domestic violence situation had caused a "lock down". Later, my kindergarten son Malachi told me a girl in his class wasn't coming back. We learned she was the 6-year-old girl whose 26-year-old mother had been fatally shot by her 37-year-old boyfriend. A link to one of the articles follows: http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/crime/2016/02/09/murder-charge-filed-fair-grove-shooting-death/80078136/ I am an author/speaker. Recently, I wrote and illustrated a children's book inspired by my kindergarten son Malachi. "Guvor's Great Discovery" describes the transformation when a child sees the routine world in a whole new way. Malachi's classmate desperately needs a transformation to see her tragic world in a whole new way. I want to make my book available to her and to each of the students in Malachi's class who miss their classmate. I also want the kids in the other classes at Fair Grove Elementary School (K-4) to receive my book as well. To do this, I need your help. It will take approximately $4,000 to provide books to every student in those grades. For every $10 donation, a child will receive a book with a personal written message of encouragement. They can remember something good came from something bad.
