BENEFITING: KIPP DELTA INC
Featured in this photo are Fredeja and Chiquela, two extraordinary girls who share a passion for books with a dramatic flare. Like most of the students at KIPP Blytheville, these girls will devour books that interest them with a fervor that does not diminish after finishing. Unfortunately, our school can only provide KIPP students with so many books a year, and for many of our kids, books are a luxury that more often than not cannot be afforded. Hopefully though, we've found a solution.
I’ve been working closely with Chris Crawley and That Bookstore in Blytheville (an amazing and established local bookstore) to brainstorm ways we can inspire student literacy throughout Blytheville using TBIB as a launching point. One of the more promising ideas we had was to fundraise money for an account at the bookstore that is soley for any student who wants a book. By working hard for their core academic classes over the summer, students can earn a free book that doesn't come second hand and doesn't need to be returned. They'll have access to books that wouldn't normally be affordable by schools or libraries for years and also have the opportunity to give back to our wonderful community by buying local and supporting small business.
Your donation gives children an opportunity to experience worlds of wonder through literature that they wouldn't otherwise being exposed to in a rural town. It gives students a light for a often times winding path that leads to a brighter future. It gives kids a compass to guide them through morality and identity. Thank you, for choosing to help a child love to read! Remember Fredeja and Chiquala-you'll see their names in lights some day soon!
