Kiran, which means 'ray of light' in Hindi, is a non-profit organization that serves and empowers South Asian victims of domestic violence across North Carolina by helping them rebuild their lives and ending their cycle of violence. Our mission is to serve victims of domestic abuse by providing information, crisis counseling, legal advocacy, referrals, skills development, and other culturally-sensitive support services needed to meet the unique challenges.
Operating in Raleigh since 2008, we are passionate about promoting healthy family relationships in South Asian communities and raising awareness on the prevalence of domestic violence in South Asian homes through outreach and advocacy.
Kiran is able to do what we do best by collaborating with various other organizations. We are funded by state and federal organizations such as the Governor's Crime Commission and NC Council for Women, and private foundations such as United Way of the Greater Triangle.
