BENEFITING: KEEPING IT REAL INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 20, 2015
The mission of the Keeping It Real Summit is to provide a safe space for healthy dialogue, discussions and activities around the unique life experiences of today's urban foster male youth. From racial profiling and gang violence, to the impact of fatherless homes and teen sex, these young men are not only in need of role models and inspiration, but also a clearer understanding of their life's purpose and pathway to their dreams.
In an effort to help support some of the male youth that reside in the homes of Charity One's foster care clients, Burney Armstrong was inspired to create the KIR Summit. The summit hosts an all male platform of panel discussions, group activities and mentor speaker series. It draws upon the expertise and real life experience of a community of urban male professionals from higher education institutions, the criminal justice system, the financial community, real estate and businesses just to name a few.
This year KiR Summit speaker panels and topics will address leadership, manhood, self-identity, race relations, healthy relationships, and strategies for personal and professional development. Every male youth who attends will also receive a brand new suit, tie, dress shirt, dress shoes, and haircut.
Your support is needed to raise the targeted goal of $25,000! This amount includes all the items for the summit as well as sub-events throughout the year such as College and Museum Tours, School Supplies, and Etiquette Class.
