I'm running the SF Half Marathon. It'll be my third halfer this year. These things are addictive. I've decided to use this event as an opportunity to raise money for a cause close to my heart.
Join me in raising money to end the stigma around depression, anxiety, mental illness for kids and young adults.
Suicide is still the 3rd leading cause of death for teens and young adults in this country. Too many young people don't seek treatment for depression or anxiety because they fear the shame associated with those feelings.
LETS (Let's Erase the Stigma) Educational Foundation wants to change young people's perceptions of mental illness so they can feel safe to seek the help they need. The California-based national non-profit funds mental health-focused clubs, mentorship programs and curriculum for classrooms in middle schools, high schools and colleges in the hopes of opening up the conversation. We all know our public schools can use all the help they can get to provide emtional support for children. LETS is helping fill in that gap.
I've set myself a modest fundraising goal, and would greatly appreciate any modest contribution you could make. Thanks to all!
