There are many reasons why you would consider supporting an organiation like AutismUp, but for me and my family, there are two! Autism is not something I ever envisioned being a central piece of my life, but it has become that. There are challenges and there are celebrations. There is learning, and there is more learning...
As my role grew in training in the organization, I had much doubt as to how I could make impact and why I should take on such a position. My husband showed me great support in his simple reply... Who better to raise awareness in this community? It was a powerful moment to realize I'd made a move from 24/7 care of two children with autism to being able to provide service back to our community.
Now the challenge becomes sustainability. No organization can exist without financial support and through "Kite Flite" our community can rally behind AutismUp by supporting a team or by creating their own. You know the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child?" You are the village that supports our families and we are counting on that support to continue the programs, the family meet ups, the Connections Groups, the speakers and conferences, the training, so that our commuity not only understands our children with ASD, but embraces them as adults so that they reach their maximum potential.
AutismUp was a buoy I gladly clung to when my children were young. Now, they are the beacon of hope that no family faces the isolation there once was in our community. There is a lot more work we can do together, but we will need your support to tackle more of those obstacles. Please take a moment and make a contribution to our team today.
Support - Opportunity - Success

We are excited to announce the 2nd annual AutismUp Kite Flite Festival, Parade, and Expo on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Rothfuss Park in Penfield. Registration begins at 10AM, with ceremonial festivities and fun from 11AM-2PM.
KiteFlite is the ultimate family fundraising festival with proceeds supporting the expansion of AutismUp’s unique education programs for our members living with autism in our community. As an organization of hundreds of parents of children with autism, AutismUp understands the importance of autism-friendly activities and that is exactly what you will find at the KITE FLITE 2014!
A fun, family-friendly environment for a cause! We aim to provide opportunities for our families to connect and our children to engage in a highly appropriate environment, but we need your help too. We can’t continue to expand and enhance programs and services that meet member needs - your needs and your children’s needs - without it.
KiteFlite will kick off with a “Kite March” around Rothfuss Park. Participants are encouraged to establish fundraising teams of family and friends and are challenged to raise pledges to sponsor their teams.
Fundraising is EASY. You can set up your fundraising team just by creating an account and clicking on "Set Up A Fundrasing Team" to the left. Then, email your friends and family the link and they can join and/or make a pledge to support your KITEFLITE TEAM during the march! Prizes will be awarded to teams that raise money at various levels and will be awarded to team and individual “kites” based on originality, creativity, size, loft, and more! See the website for more at www.autismup.org.
Carnival games, concessions, arts and crafts, food and resource expo await our “marchers” and friends. Bring chairs, blankets, a picnic lunch and we will provide music, inflatables, bounce houses, dunk tanks, arts, and crafts, bubble shows, clowns, and much, much more!
Admission is free! Food vendors will be available, and attraction tickets and unlimited bracelets are available for a small donation. “Marchers” will receive a designated number of tickets based on total dollars raised.
Sponsorships are available and several levels.
