BENEFITING: Kitten Rescue
"Kitten Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that was founded in 1997, and that has now grown into one of the most respected animal welfare groups in Los Angeles. Each year, volunteers place over 1,000 cats and dogs into new homes. Since our inception, we have placed over 10,000 animals into loving homes!
Volunteers work tirelessly to save the lives of as many homeless animals as they can. While they primarily rescue cats, this organization also rescues dogs.
The majority of Kitten Rescue's animals live in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted. The volunteers care for orphaned or abandoned kittens who need to be bottle fed, moms with litters, cats who need socialization and sick and injured animals. Kitten Rescue takes care of all of its rescued cats' medical needs, and prior to adoption, every cat is spayed/neutered, tested for leukemia and FIV, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas and microchipped.
They also offer education and assistance to the public regarding all aspects of responsible pet ownership, care of kittens and cats, the importance of spaying and neutering, and the proper maintenance and care of feral cat colonies. During "kitten season", volunteers teach bottle feeding classes for people who want to care for unweaned kittens. Kitten Rescue also distributes City of Los Angeles spay/neuter coupons to members of the public. "
