BENEFITING: KGWALE LE MOLLO US
EVENT DATE: Oct 29, 2016
I writing to solicit 3 minutes of your time and 25/50/100 dollars from your pocket book for a very good cause.
Here is the story:
My friend Bowen spent two years after college volunteering with the Peace Corps in South Africa. During that time he met some extraordinary young people from rural villages and townships who possessed great intelligence and talent but had no opportunities for a high-quality education. Without adult role models to show them options for professional careers, many of these children couldn't even envision a life beyond rural poverty. After he left the peace corps he and his friend Allison founded the Kgwale le Mollo (KLM) Foundation, which strives to identify deserving young students in rural areas and provide them resources to grow with the hope that they will in turn help raise the next generation of kids out of poverty. Nelson Mandela famously said, "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." KLM is doing this one student at a time.
It's a wonderful charity run by a small group of passionate people. You can read about the scholars they have helped and how they are thriving here : http://www.klm-foundation.org
Here is where your (tax deductible) money will go:
$25 will pay for a KLM scholar's books and school supplies
$50 will pay for a KLM scholar's sports equipment - Gugu became the first Uplands student to ever be selected to the Mpumalanga province netball team!
$100 will support the enrollment of one KLM scholar in our experiential, multi-year leadership curriculum
$250 will support KLM's rigorous, multi-tiered selection process
$350 will support our 6 month bridging program for all new students, an integral part to their integration into Uplands College.
