BENEFITING: Friends of CAIC
Join the Friends of CAIC and make sure you Know Before You Go!
Education is essential to reducing risk while traveling and recreating in the backcountry. Colorado is a fantastic place to play in the mountains, but it is also one of the most dangerous. Unfortunately, Colorado typically accounts for 1/3 of all avalanche fatalities in the United States. Our goal with this campaign is to continue to reduce that number. We can do that through education. Gather your friends, fellow riders, and partners and join us as we launch Know Before You Go Colorado!
The money raised during this campaign will go toward the following goals.
1. Create and launch Know Before You Go Colorado. This education initiative will be modeled after the Utah Avalanche Center's model but will be focused on Colorado's snowpack and avalanche problems.
2. Improve the CAIC's backcountry forecast program. More forecasting staff means more people that are part of a statewide avalanche safety effort. More forecasters will mean more local field data which in turn will create more accurate and timely avalanche forecasts for you, the backcountry user.
3. The expanded resources also means expansion of our IT infrastructure. Last season we asked you to invest in the development of a mobile app. You responded and we launched V1 in January. We are excited to continually develop the capabilities our website as well as of the app and we need your help to do that.
You want your forecast center, the CAIC, to be the best. Donate today and help us grow and give you the best center in the United States.
Double your Impact:
Several generous donors have put up funds to be matched during this campaign. These matches will be announced over the course of the campaign.
Imagine the possibilities. You donate $25 and it has the power of $50. Raise $1,000 among friends and family and it has the power of $2,000. Your fundraising for us and spreading the word helps us hit our goal that much faster!
Fundraise for us:
Avalanche forecasting and education is a cause you believe in. That's why you are here! The goal of Crowdrise is to encourage our donors to fundraise for us. Reach out to your friends and family and ask them to donate to a cause you believe in and keeps you safe.
