Empower women, inspire underprivileged youth, build cross cultural bridges and enrich the cultural tapestry of India while showcasing professional artists through music. Kolkata Classics is dedicated to the principle that music is uplifting and enriching to the soul. We are working with children/women in the red light districts, children from the slums, the industrialists of Kolkata, Parsi civic groups and the Muslim community to effect this change in India. Our programming exposes these groups to high-quality; western classical music and foundational American goals such as gender equality and that education can effect social change. Our vision has roots in the powerful, centuries-old belief that there is immense synergy and creative potential where east meets west. Artists coming to India from abroad will be here twenty days on average. Programming for Season III consists of the following: Four Health Fairs with Concert; we are partnering again with local hospitals to host a concert for women in the red light district (second largest district in Asia) to have a concert/health fair. Our goal is to use music to tempt these women out into the open and receive critical services. Last season we reached thousands of women delivering life saving vaccinations and treatments. We plan to do the same this year! Four public performances open to all. In partnership with the Goethe Institut-Max Mueller Bhavan we are performing six concerts open to the public. Four educational, interactive themed kids concert sets with the below kids from NGOs and charities. Four donor concerts, invite only. In partnership with The Hyatt Hotel (five star hotel). Engagement with NGOs, schools, universities and charities:
