Although brain tumors are the #1 disease-related cause of death in children, only 4% of the research budget from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) goes to all forms of pediatric cancers. The Kortney Rose Foundation was created to fund research and has already donated over one million dollars to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, helping to establish the Children's Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium (CBTTC), the largest of its kind in the country. However, we cannot stop now. Research is expensive. Researchers are on the cusp of making life-saving discoveries and they need funding to continue. Help us reach a day when no parent will hear the words, "your child has a brain tumor." Together we can make a difference. Please donate any amount. It all adds up!
Kortney Rose Gillette was a beautiful, fun-loving 9-year-old girl and then one day she was diagnosed with a rare brain stem glioma (DIPG) brain tumor and our lives turned upside down. Four and a half short months after diagnosis Kortney was gone, but not before setting us on a mssion. We started The Kortney Rose Foundation to create Kortney's legacy of helping other children through the promise of research. Since Kortney's death in 2006 we have built a playground in her memory at her school, had May declared as Brain Tumor Awareness Month in New Jersey, and donated over one million dollars of research funding to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) helping to establish the Children's Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium (CBTTC).
