Kris Needs Hearing Aids due to Otosclerosis
Organized by: Kris Thomas
As a kid, I had perfect hearing. I played guitar, hockey and wanted to be a paramedic. After working as a paramedic for 10 years, the twin towers came down. Like many, I went to the local recruiter to join the Army. I went went for the physical and enter the same day but I found out that I had profound hearing loss and the Army would not take me. I thought I had escaped the disability that was passed on through most of the women in my family... I was losing my hearing due to a disorder called Otosclerosis. Basically, bone growth in my middle ear. Someday, I won't hear anymore. Until then, I need hearing aids to continue making music and saving lives as a Paramedic. I need a special brand that costs a total of $5800 for both ears. I have saved $1000 on my own. I have always worked but Paramedic's don't make a lot of money and insurance does not cover hearing aids.
