BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
Hello & welcome to my page! I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension on Nov 21, 2003 during surgery to repair an Atrial Septial Defect. Since then my life has been a whirlwind of ups and downs, hospital stays, and different treatments. Since research continues to rapidly grow doctors keep learning more and more about this disease, which gives all of us HOPE! Pulmonary Hypertension used to be considered a "death sentence" , since treatments were slim and diagnosis was almost always when the disease was very advanced.
Times have now changed!! Patients are getting diagnosed earlier and medications are helping to slow the progression!!! I am living proof of this, I was lucky doctors found the disease in its early stages when I had minimal symptoms however, without treatment I would have likely not made it past the next 5 yrs. I have moved on to only needing oral medications, after being on very invasive and painful subcutanous and IV treatments, and I am thrilled to be staying stable
I fight for the continued advancements and the HOPE to find a cure! I have seen families loose loved ones and to many children lose the battle to PH.
