BENEFITING: B CURED
EVENT DATE: Oct 20, 2012
Kristen Erickson and her son, Christopher Bass, will row in the parent/child race at the Head of the Charles crew regatta in Cambridge, MA on Saturday, October 20th. One of the world’s largest and most challenging rowing events, the Head of the Charles attracts over 200,000 spectators. Christopher will be the youngest rower ever to race in the Head of the Charles!
Kristen, a Greenwich Academy teacher, in Greenwich, Ct. and Christopher, a 6th grader at Brunswick School, will participate as B*CURED Athletes raising money for brain cancer research and sporting the bright orange and blue colors of B*CURED. Kristen’s husband, Jonathan Bass, also an avid rower, died five years ago from brain cancer on Head of the Charles weekend, so this race is especially poignant for the family. In the past, Kristen’s older son, William, a Brunswick 9th Grader, has rowed with his mother in his father’s memory, but he is now a member of Brunswick School’s Varsity Crew team that will also race that weekend, so young Christopher is stepping up to the challenge.
To commemorate the fifth anniversary of his father’s death, Christopher has designed and made bracelets, called BASSlets, that are being sold at Threads & Treads in Greenwich as well as on the B*CURED website at www.bcured.org. Christopher is donating one dollar to B*CURED for every bracelet sold.
B*CURED is determined to raise awareness about brain cancer and fund research for a cure. Christopher is awesome and inspiring so please support his race by donating now!!
