I learned about and participated in my first Climb in 2015. I am a mother of two extremely loving children and could not imagine our life without them. As many first time mothers do, after having my son, while being extremely overjoyed and in love, I had a fog sitting over shoulders that was hard to shake.
I was fortunate enough to have an amazing Ob-GYN who made it easy to talk to about my feelings. Together with her and my husband, I began seeking help through talk therapy, and started my "regular" workout routine. For me, this helped tremendously and after about 4 months, the fog started to lift and I could see and feel happiness.
Too many women suffer through this without seeking the help because of whatever stigmatism surrounds Postpartum Mental Illness. There is nothing to be scared of, ashamed of, and talking about it makes the world a much better place. The more we support and help each other, the more we can create a place of happy!
I am doing this for my children, my family and for all those who suffer in silence and need help finding their voice.
