BENEFITING: Team Muscle Makers for UCMD
In 2013 I traveled over to California to run the Disneyland Half Marathon with Team Muscle Makers for UCMD. And now I'm back at it again! For the first time, the team is an official charity group during a Walt Disney World race weekend and I coudn't pass up the opportunity to run alongside this lovely group of people again.
Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (UCMD) is an extremely rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. To date there are only a few hundred documented cases worldwide. It is considered a slowly progressive and life-limiting form of MD. This team was founded by someone who knows all too well the trials and tribulations of rasing a child with UCMD, and she wanted to give back to the very organization that offered help and hope to families like hers. Your donations directly affect the lives of families who utilize the Muscular Dystrophy Association's resources and clinics.
Here's what I really love about this team; it is a family affair. Each of the four family members runs in at least one race during each event. Passion and courage radiate from their smiles the entire time. I admire their love, support, and strength. It reminds me a lot of my own family and how we dealt with my own medical situations.
Even though I've only ran with TMM for UCMD once in the past, this team means the world to me. Please consider donating. No amount is too small.
