Dear Most Amazingly Wonderfu…
Dear Most Amazingly Wonderful Supporters,

I want to say a HUGE thank you to every single one of you. Your support - whether it was emotional, encouraging words, congratulatory praise, running with me, bringing me vaseline while I was running (yes that did happen!), standing in the rain to cheer me on…it all contributed to an amazing marathon for me. It was tough; It was hard; but it was beyond rewarding.

When I got to mile 20, just before the last of the hills on heart break hill, I was met with encouragment and cheers from a dozen or so Codman students, teachers and administrators. They got me up the rest of that hill and ignited a fire under me to finish. And finish strong.

I finished the marathon in 4:12:13. I had so much fun stopping and talking along the way. And for the most part, I really enjoyed myself. Highlights of the day for me include: hearing the gun go off in Hopkinton at the start, reaching Framingham and hearing Born in the USA blasting over the speakers, seeing my family in Wellesley and seeing so many friends along the way, reaching the top of Heart Break Hill and at mile 22 knowing that I would definately finish, reaching the Citgo sign with one more mile to go (while Eye of the Tiger was playing), turning up Hereford and completely choking up and then running as fast I could down Boylston Street to the Finish. The runners were amazing and inspriring. Everyone had a story. Everyone was out there for a reason. I saw many runners with disabilities and I was empowered and in awe of their resiliency and determination. The volunteers who helped run the marathon from start to finish were equally amazing. I will never forget the day.

Thank you all for being so incredibly generous. I was overwhelmed by how generous you all were. I raised close to $13,000 for Codman's Wellness Program. I can't thank you all enough. It is a wonderful gift to give them.

Thank you all again for supporting me and helping me do something I have always wanted to do. Running this year was humbling, rewarding, challenging and amazing. And I can't thank you enough for helping me get there.

With love and appreciation,

Dear Friends, I hope that yo…
Dear Friends, I hope that you had a great Memorial Day Weekend and took a moment to be thankful for the heroes who have sacrificed everything to protect us.

Thank you very much for supporting the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation (GDMF) via your donation to me and Kristin for the Boston Marathon. Your generosity is appreciated and will make a difference in the Special Operations Community!

The Boston Marathon has always been a special event for us, having run it years ago, living at the half-way mark, and just being a Bostonian. It was made more special this year because on Patriots Day 2013 we had the opportunity and privilege to run for the GDMF. We were surrounded by thousands of others who were also running for charities. It was a special group to be a part of and an inspirational place to be.

The day started out as a terrific one, perfect for running 26.2 miles. It was 55-60 degrees, sunny with a west-to-east breeze at our back. We had a great race with lots of memories of our fellow runners and the crowds that cheered for us. We were also able to enjoy the last mile, running from Fenway Park to the crossing the finish line!

Approximately 9 minutes later, things changed forever…a terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon…about 8 months ago a terrorist attack killed my best friend and now the bastards have come after my Town!

Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of the attack and their families. The Boston Marathon represents everything GOOD. We run, cheer, volunteer, gather with friends on Patriots Day, a day that represents our freedom as a nation. As a result of what happened a new GOOD emerged, one of helping and compassion for our fellow mankind. Volunteers running into danger, doctors helping victims, strangers helping the wounded, Bostonians opening doors to cold runners stranded on the course, law enforcement coming together to seek justice for a heinous crime. The GOOD in people is an amazing and special thing to see and this place has been overflowing.
Thank you very much for your support and generosity.

Thanks to all of you Kristin and I have raised over $20,000 for the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation! Your funds will provide Special Operations soldiers new opportunities for employment and help share Glen’s love for the outdoors with their families. We are looking to do great things at the GDMF!

Thank you,
Tom & Kristin
