Kristine's Journey into Health
Organized by: Katie Breci
The evening of 3/28/15, Kristine went to the ER because about three weeks earlier she had a fever that lasted on and off for about two weeks. It went away for a week but she still felt weak some days, and then the fever and weakness returned. They discovered that she barely had any white blood cells to fight any kind of infection so they got her in her own room right away and gave her two blood transfusions that same night. From there she was transferred to another hospital in Redding where more tests were run. The results: ALL (acute lymphocytic leukemia). The hospital immediately started working on transferring her to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. She (along with members of her family) was transferred there the morning of 4/2/15.
Kristine had a central line port installed in her chest on 4/6 and will start an intense round of chemotherapy on 4/9. Overall treatment will continue for a little over two years.
Her family has signed her up for an emergency medical plan and at this time, cost is an unknown factor. Kristine needs our support to ensure that financial constraints never compromise the quality of care she receives. As this process will take a little over two years, it is highly likely that Kristine and her family will incur medical bills. Kristine also will not be able to work during a large part of her treatment, so she has all of her regular living expenses that need to be covered. Supporting her financially will ease some of the strain and help remove the question of "how will I pay for this?". As a young lady with her whole life ahead of her, walking away from this without any debt would be a tremendous blessing.
Kristine's sister and parents are with her now, and others will be rotating through so that she will always have family by her side. Another blessing of our financial support is the ability to provide her with the resources to ensure she has every immune system booster they see fit. Their desire is to couple chemo with plenty of immune strengthening options (natural remedies, etc).
Please consider donating, and please help us spread the word. Thank you for all of your prayers (keep 'em coming!), thoughts and support. We are amazed daily by the outpouring of love we have been receiving. Thank you, you are all appreciated!!
