My name is Kristine Grace Velasco and I am a student at Seneca College in the Early Childhood Education diploma program. I am a motivated, hard working and outgoing individual who loves the satisfaction in helping others. I have been blessed with the opportunity to take part in a two-week work/study program with Students Crossing Borders. We will be travelling to Kingston Jamaica to help with the children who are less fortunate.
I am taking part in this wonderful experience because I believe in lending a hand to those who need it. I felt that it was my time to make a difference in some way. I believe that education is very important and that no child should go without one regardless of the situation they may be in. I strongly believe in what Students Crossing Borders have been doing for these past years. Another reason would be that I would love to grow more as a person, and find out more about myself that I have yet to discover and to be more motivated in my studies in Early Childhood Education so that one day I can make more of a difference.
There are many things in life I take for granted and on this trip I hope to have a new perspective on how lucky we all are to live in a world where things are there for us at hand. I hope to come back to help spread the word about lending a hand and to stress out the importance of education. I also hope to take what I learn and bring it back to use here at home and maybe make a difference in the perspectives on education, AIDS/HIV, special needs and teen pregnancy. I hope to be more educated in these situations so that I could take what I learn with me in my studies.
With your kind donations I hope we can all make a difference to those who really need it. Thank you so much for your time.
