There is nothing purer than the smile of a child; from ear to ear, their happiness can light up a room. The Summer 2017 interns at the Kroger Co. of Michigan chose to create an event to benefit the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital because we are moved by the strength of the children battling pediatric cancer. We're funding pediatric cancer research at Mott to help scientists continue to make transformative breakthroughs and open doors to novel, personalized treatment options.
Each year, 13,000+ parents will hear the words “your child has cancer,” and 1 out of 5 of these children will not survive. We are choosing to be their light in dark times; to bring them the happiness they've always brought us. We are choosing to Black Out to Block Out Cancer.
This run/walk fundraiser will take place on Sunday, August 13, 2017, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Nichols Arboretum at the University of Michigan. This opportunity is limited to the first 120 runners/walkers to register. The race will be approximately 1.5 miles around the Arboretum loop.
By registering or donating to Black Out to Block Out Cancer Run/Walk, you’re supporting researchers and physicians who are providing hope for children who’ve run out of options and serving as a compass for families desperately in need of new paths for treatment.
