Andrew Krotinsky

On August 6, 2016 my father, my coach, my mentor and best friend passed away from the dreaded early onset Alzheimer’s disease. To lose your memories of coaching your sons’ little league and soccer games, to forgetting your sons’ names, to forgetting the simple everyday tasks – tv remote, light switch, dressing, walking, eating was what is etched in my mind as I watched my dad’s disease rob him of his life. I became the caregiver and one who had to teach and show him the way and remain dignified. Until the time I was thirteen, my dad was the best dad. We shared so many great times from watching and playing sports, to games at the ball park, to movies, to hanging with my friends. Every time we went to New York City- he told me to take a look at the great city and take it all in. My dad had a repertoire of dad jokes that he constantly told and for my brother and me we thought he collected them from a Dad’s joke book. My dad was a giving man who loved to do for others- he was a teacher, coach and mentor. He even participated in a clinical trial so that future generations would not have to endure this disease. He taught my brother and me to put our family and friends before ourselves. He had a calming way to diffuse a situation and I used that approach to redirect him when his behavior from his disease got out of control. No one should ever have to go through what my family and dad have been through with the unknown cause and effects of this disease. Each person with Alzheimer’s is affected differently and early onset poses so many different obstacles. Therefore I am asking you on behalf of all those suffering from this dreaded and disgusting disease to make a donation to the “Alzheimer’s Foundation”. Let’s make a difference- one dollar can change each one of our lives for the better and wipe out this horrific disease. And to my dad, Rest in Peace, Ury Krotinsky With heartfelt love and sadness,
