May the Votes be Ever in your Favor :)

Can you help spread joy to VERY deserving children? By donating $20 to Imagine Scholar's student birthday project, you'll produce the purest kind of excitement and a lifelong memory. Our 25 students have never had the chance to celebrate a birthday before, let alone eat cake. With every $20 donation comes photo footage of one of the student's special day :)

Best wishes,
Megan + Imagine Scholar Team

Dear Krystina, Thank you s…
Dear Krystina,

Thank you so muck once again for your contribution to my efforts. I can't believe it was only a few months ago we were discussing this at the Back Bay Social Club, and you inspired me to decide I could actually pull this off.

Since I ran for a smaller charity, and was in fact the sole runner on our "team," it was also the people like you at the various TMIRCE runs who helped me stay organized in training myself. All in all, I did 40+ runs in January through April before the marathon, despite having to stay off a pulled toe for most of February. I did basically drop out of Monday runs around then too, but that was half from the weeks during the injury, and then once I started running again Monday became a rest day after longer runs on Sat and Sun.

My goal was a 4hr marathon, having completed a 21+ mile practice run (along the official route) in 3:10 at the end of March. Given the weather that day, I realized the importance of pacing myself and was elated to finish in under 5, at 4:50:39.

I signed up for the NYC Marathon's lottery, so we shall see if I get in. This will certainly not be my last marathon, now that I know for a fact it is possible.

How was your race? You finished in an amazing time too, and I know you said you saw me around Copley Square after the race. Hope you have also recovered somewhat too since the race? I How did your toes hold up?

Anyway, thank you again so much for everything. Hope to see you again at running club!

Sincerely,

Howard Simpson

Greetings from Norway,

how are you doing? Welcome to Crowdrise. Here is my November vote for you. You are doing amazing things for charity here at Crowdrise. Please consider supporting my fundraiser for The Trevor Project. It would mean so much to me.

The Trevor Project is all about helping teenagers that are struggeling daily with depression, anxiety, bullying, discrimination just because they are gay. I am a lesbian myself and I have personally experienced how it is when people say you are sick because you are gay. The Trevor Lifeline is the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline for LGBTQ youth. There should be equal rights for everyone and it is time to raise awareness and help these teenagers get a good life and let them experience what true love is.

I hope to hear from you.
Cheers,
Elise Marie

Stuff About Me:

Here we are… two weeks away from the big day. Over the past couple of months I have put out a tremendous effort both physically and mentally in a quest to fight pediatric cancer. I have run hundreds of miles, experienced minor injuries, consumed more calories than any normal human being should, raised thousands of dollars, and have been blessed to have one of the cutest 5 year olds come into my life.

Her name is Helen and she is my patient partner. Helen was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was only 3 years old. One would think that would crush her spirits, but that couldn't be further from the truth. When I walk into her room to visit during her treatment appointments, I can't help but smile as I see her sitting on her bed, smiling and coloring, anxiously awaiting my arrival. The moment she sees me her eyes light up and she can't wait to show me what she is drawing. We have even drawn portraits of each other, her drawings significantly better than mine. She helps me to channel my inner child and reminds me of the simple things in life. It is Helen who has helped me endure the long runs and push through the hard times. When I want to quit I think of her smiling face and know that even when life isn't easy, Helen can't say "I'm done" or "I don't want to." It was through her perseverance and determination that I am happy to say Helen will finish treatment this month. I will be proud to hand her a medal on April 15th at our pasta dinner.

As race day approaches my mileage will decrease drastically. However, my efforts to raise money to increase survival rates and help children in treatment live happier, more comfortable lives will continue full force. On April 16th, I will run a full 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston taking many steps to fight children's cancer. I'd like for you to take a few small steps as well.

Since this will be my second year running for the cause, I have a goal to raise a minimum of $6,000 to top last years' donations. Donations can be made directly via the website as well as cash/check donations to me. All donations are tax deductable.

Please pass this message on to anyone you might know who is interested in donating to a wonderful cause and help me on my journey to the 2012 Boston Marathon. Your gift of any amount will help Mass General in the fight against childhood cancer. I greatly appreciate your continued support.

Sincerely,

Krystina
