Community Water Solutions is a not-for-profit organization (est. 2008) that partners with rural communities in developing countries to provide desperately needed water treatment systems and promote sustainability. As a CWS fellow, I'll be traveling to northern Ghana this winter and working with a team of American college students to establish water treatment businesses in several villages currently lacking access to clean drinking water. The maintenance and operation of these water treatment businesses is funded by revenue from the sale of drinking water, but the capital necessary to establish them is provided by CWS.
