On August 21, 2016 I will attempt the most difficult physical test of my life as I compete in the Ironman Mont Tremblant, a 140.6 mile endurance test comprised of a 2.4 mile swim followed by a 112 mile bike and finishing with a full marathon. It will be the culmination of a journey that started in March 2015 when my father was diagnosed with cancer. In honor of my late father I am raising money to help build the KURT J. LESKER III DEVELOPMENT CENTER, a training and education facility to be built on Century United's soccer field in the south hills of Pittsburgh, PA.
As most of you know my father, Kurt III, passed away in October 2015. He was a coach, mentor and friend to many who knew him. What you may or may not know is that Kurt III LOVED soccer (football for my international friends). He started, coached and played for several teams throughout his life, including being a founding member of the Century United Football Club in Pittsburgh, PA. He believed that soccer was not only a great test of skill and physical stamina, but also a way to develop young boys and girls as people.
The Development Center will have training rooms, indoor skill area, locker rooms, a rooftop viewing area, hall of fame walk and flex space. It will help players and coaches develop their soccer skills and more importantly, their life skills. It will promote the building of self esteem, self confidence, teamwork and respect for self and others. We will also be conducting programming for special needs kids.
THANK YOU for your support and giving to this special project!! Century United is a 501c3, all donations are tax deductible and 100% of the donation will be applied directly to the project. We have a private donor who is matching $1 for $1 up to the first $125,000.
