Hello Friends! :)
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out the KUSEWERA EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM! Kusewera was started because we know the incredible impact that active and creative PLAY can have on young lives around the globe. Malawi, Africa is one of the poorest countries in the world. Most people live on the equivalent of $1.50 a day. HIV/AIDS, malaria and famine have wiped out hundreds of thousands of people, leaving many children to fend for themselves.
Kusewera works hand in hand with Mtendere Village Orphanage in Malawi to support and educate the children of the village and the people of the surrounding communities through yearly volunteer trips. The Kusewera Empowerment Program uses sports, music, creative writing and art to teach the children invaluable life skills such as leadership, sportsmanship, creativity and discipline, as well as encouraging these kids to dream for a better future. Your support makes all the difference!
EMERGENCY NEED: In Malawi, the word for pregnancy is Wapakati which means 50/50. It is understandable why they have chosen such a word when you learn that one in 36 women in Malawi die from pregnancy related complications. The villages are in desperate need of baby formula. With funds raised from the Kusewera Empowerment Program we will be transporting much needed supplies to Blessings Hospital in Malawi at the end of May.
