BENEFITING: CHILDREN'S HEMIPLEGIA AND STROKE ASSN.
EVENT DATE: Oct 26, 2015
October is a special time for us, it's Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month and Kylie's Birthday!
Help us celebrate Kylie's birthday by donating to the Children's Hemiplegic and Stroke Association (chasa.org).
What does CHASA do for Kylie, our family, and many others:
1. Provide orthotic grants.
Luckily, Kylie's AFO on her right leg is covered by our insurance, but some families are not so lucky to have these benefits. These orthotics can easily cost $3,000 each. We get new ones every 6-9 months.
2. Provide grants for support groups, outings, and programs for families with children that have hemiplegia.
Through CHASA we have found support from other families, and Kylie gets to meet other kids like her.
3. Provide educational scholarships.
4. Provide athletic scholarships.
5. Most importantly, Support awareness and Research campaigns.
When Kylie was 10 months old, she was diagnosed with right hemiplegic cerebral palsy due to an in-utero stroke. We didn't know that babies in the womb could have strokes and like many children that had a stroke in-utero, we don't know why. We hope some day we will know and be able to prevent it.
Thank you for joining us in celebrating Kylie and supporting CHASA.org!
