Kyzel's Dream: 9th IYLA
Organized by: kyzel dagdag
It is not only my dream but it is the Filipino Dream, a dream that I share with my countrymen, a dream of every youth and every nation builder that is a dream of a better tomorrow. I started dreaming as a young kid, and until now, I’m still working for my dream to be realized. My name is Kyzel Dagdag, currently a third year management student in the University of the Philippines Visayas, and yes I am a proud Filipino. I grew up as a scout, a Vincentian, immersed in the grassroots level, in the most basic unit of society, the families in the communities. This is what I have got to say, the Filipino has endured a lot these past few years, we conquered typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon ever recorded in the world, and we are continually facing more typhoons, we have had bad governance, and more than 50% of our population is below poverty line. I would want to give hope to my fellow countrymen that there is still hope for a better tomorrow, and that the Filipino Dream will soon be realized. That’s why right now I’m raising funds to attend the 9th International Young Leaders Assembly- “Moral and Innovative Leadership: Vision, Service, and Entrepreneurship”, which will be held on Washington D.C., Philadelphia and New York City from August 8-17, 2016 because I believe that this will be a good venue for me to let the voice of the Filipinos be heard, the voice of the unheard, to address the issues and challenges that we are facing. We acknowledge that we cannot do this alone, we know that we need all the support that we can get to hurdle in our daily life, and we need you, the international community to help us help ourselves. I am raising the amount of 5,000 GBP Pound Sterling that will cover my registration fee, accommodation, local and international transportation, food, and visa processing. The deadline of registration if on July 3, and after that there would be a fine of additional $500.00 for the registration. If ever you give me a chance to participate, I will be greatly thankful and in return rest assured that I will carry along with me the Filipino Dream, to voice out our concerns, to help seek solutions to our challenges, and to ask support from the international community to come to our aid. I will create an echo camp in our country that will reflect the whole assembly and will let the community know regarding the organization, the event, its cause and what the role of our citizens especially the youth in the global arena. I will surely empower more youth, to create more socially relevant projects that aims to uplift the status quo of our country. This means a lot to me, to the Filipino people. I hope you make my dream, our dream, the Filipino dream yours too!
