BENEFITING: THOMAS G LABRECQUE FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THOMAS G LABRECQUE FOUNDATION
THE STORY:
In honor of my wife Susan's valiant battle against this disease, I have decided to try to raise funds for research and raising awareness of lung cancer. To that end, I am asking each of my friends and family to sponsor me as a runner on the Run As One Team in the New York City Marathon, which will take place on November 6, 2016. I have committed to raising a minimum of $3,000, ALL of which will go to the non-profit Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation and its partner, the LUNGevity organization. These non-profits were the first charities accepted by the New York Road Runners to participate as charities in the NYC marathon some years ago. I have researched them using Charity Navigator, and they both have my "seal of approval"! I know this is do-able, since I was able to raise over $3,000 some years ago in the Tour de Cure Cycling fund raiser for Diabetes, in honor of my late brother-in-law, Robert.
Rest assured that none of the money you donate will be used by me for my expenses incurred for registration, travel, room, or board for this event - it will all go directly toward funding lung cancer research and awareness of the importance of early detection. I invite you to Google the Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation to read the inspiring story of Mr. Labrecque and his own fight against lung cancer.
Please note that you can send your check directly to me at 1070 Oakland Trace, Brookhaven GA 30319 until May 1st, and after May 1st to 7111 Village Charmant Drive #29, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, made out to "TGL Foundation" instead of contributing on-line. I will then forward them to the Foundation.
Thank you so much for your consideration of this worthwhile cause!
Love,
Joe Mondello
