Lacy Family's Climb Out of Poverty
Organized by: Stephanie Mason
Family of 5, I am the Head of the household trying and struggling every second of the day to make sure our needs are met. I have been looking for jobs for 6 months, Tuesday September 6th I walked into Terra Staffing for the first time, and actually succeeded to getting 10 interviews in 2 days. I am to be prepared to get up and go to work the minute they send me a message for a job. Only issue is I can't get to the job sights. I don't have any money for bus fare, or Gas money to drive to work. I have to go to the eye doctor at SouthCenter Mall and get my eyes fixed, I have been having trouble seeing and migraines keeping me in bed, which is also an issue when trying to find work. It is a total of $300 to get my eyes and propper prescription for my glasses ($150 for appointment, and $150 for the glasses). I will be going to South Seattle Community College and Getting my G.E.D in the next 6 weeks if I can afford the class, it is $175 for the course and $25/test. I do not qualify for assistance paying for the class or test I have already sought out this information. I need to renew my food handlers and liquor license permits. Which is $25 each. And put enough (200) on my bus pass so that I can go to work without worrying about "not having enough" to get to and from work. I don't have help getting to work. I'm on my own. I'm only looking for JUST enough to get by until I they find a job for me. They said it'll take 2 weeks, in the mean time I am looking for work on the side, on my own and cannot even afford to make it to the interviews. Please Assist me with finding work. Possibly getting caught up on electric bill, and groceries so that we don't have a major set back once I start working. Once a job or 2 is found, I will be putting as much money away as possible so that If I loose a job I have plenty saved up to live off of until a new one is found. I'm an honest person. I work hard, I do everything possible to support the family and make a living. I have had really horrible luck finding any type of work until this week. And now the only thing that stands in the way, is glasses, g.e.d, and well bus fare. Please help us out for a minute? That's all I am asking. I have been told I will likely be placed into fields that work with people who don't work face paced (I have f.a.s and adhd...). Which will land me in warehouse type industries. few locations will be Kent, Burien, or Tukwilla. But woud like to look for work too, not just depend on them to help me out. I have a good thing going here for once, things are starting to look up! :) Would you be willing to help our family out? Make getting a job, getting to work and interviews, possible? Your kindness will be paid forward. Thank you for your time!
