EVENT DATE: Aug 01, 2011
In the fall of 2008 my best friend Edie called me with news that her husband Rob had gotten into an accident. For several months Rob began to show signs and sypmtoms that the doctors could not determine the cause. Some believed it was due to his accident. When i went to visit him I noticed a change in Rob. He was weaker, slimmer and his speech was slurred. Even his laugh was different. Still months went by and Rob's health continued to decline.
In April of 2010 Rob was finally diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or as some call it Lou Gherig's disease. He is now wheelchair bound and uses a computer that he moves with his eyes to speak. Rob and Edie have to young boys ages 8 and 4. Same ages as my girls. He is a young 40 years old!
I never thought i would ever see a close friend get so sick and watch him go from 200 pounds to 150 in such a short time. Their house is close to going into foreclosure and all the bills have fallen behind. Edie was for a long time Rob's care giver. Feeding, washing and bathing him. After his diagnosis they were able to get an aid whom is now there 10 hours a day.
So i have been feeling compelled to do something! Anythiing! I thought, hey why not sell some calenders featuring me and other coworkers. We are real women showing the world what we can do!
Thank you for donating anything that you can! All donations and the proceeds for the calenders will be going to my friend Rob Sullivan and an ALS foundation of Rob's choice. More info on that coming soon.
The 2012 Ladies of EMS calender is currently in production mode and is looking for sponsors! Contact me if you are interested in becoming a sponsor!
A calender donation of $__ will be determined very soon so please check back for that info!
Thanks again for coming and donating or just saying HI! Pictures of Rob, Edie and family are in the photos section!
