EVENT DATE: Dec 20, 2013
A concept that came to fruition out of a conversation with a local businessman’s desire to strengthen his community has been nothing less than a whirlwind experience to say the least. It has been exciting, frustrating and a learning experience throughout. Today the concept stands as a reason to push forward.
Here is where we are at…
After numerous meetings with government officials and departments, all of whom have been extremely helpful and supportive of the concept, we are at a crossroads. Unless we have 100% of the funds in contracts and/or in an account, we cannot build a rink for the 2013-14 season. Leaving the city with debt is not an option for the organizers. We will continue to be honest and forthright with potential sponsors about this and will refund 100% of capital raised/sponsorships, should Lake Shaw Ice Rink not come to fruition this winter.
Here is what needs to happen…
We are seeking community support, partnership, interest from local businesses and a capital injection to make this happen. By the close of business today, www.lakeshawicerink.com will be updated and live to give a broader perspective as to the activities, events and needs of the ice rink itself. We are aggressively working to solidify funds and guarantee that we have the financial stability to begin construction. We are seeking ideas, thoughts and potential sponsors, grants and gifts in kind from foundations to better our community as a whole. If we can’t build it, you can’t come.
Need an incentive to help support us? No problem! See a few things we've come up with below:
$10 = 1 free skate
$25 = 3 free skates
$100 = unlimited free skate for a month (per person, non-transferable)
$250 = 1 season pass
$500 = 2 season pass, 2 tickets to opening and closing events
$1000 = 2 hour private event for up to 100 people Sunday thru Thursday subject to availability, 4 tickets to opening and closing events
Thank you to every person, organization and business that has taken the time to meet, advise and support us in this endeavor. Please direct questions, comments and concerns to email@example.com
