The LakewoodAlive Housing Outreach Program has been working with residents across the community to help them with their home maintenance needs on a case by case basis.
Through our contractor evaluations, housing educational series, one-on-one consultations, PaintLakewood program, volunteer outreach, etc., we’ve worked with homeowners to deal with their home repair needs which have generated significant economic improvements across the community.
In 2014, we provided 15 educational classes to more than 250 people; facilitated 14 homes executing complete paint jobs; oversaw 27 volunteer housing projects that leveraged more than $28,000 invested in the community; and developed new programs for Birdtown and the West End/Scenic Park neighborhoods.
LakewoodAlive is a small but mighty organization, but still lacks capacity to accomplish impactful work in the neighborhoods that have the most concentrated need. The organization seeks to raise enough money to create and implement a Community Engagement Program. We believe that if one staff person can be dedicated to the neighborhoods that are most in need, more clients will be able to be served resulting in improved housing stock, quality of life, and community pride along with new and strengthened relationships with neighbors, community leaders and institutional partners.
