LAKOTA WAYS is a 2 year-old NonProfit that seeks funding for sustainability in producing and maintaining jobs in positive, uplifting indigenous cultural and indigenous language expression. By doing so, funds directly COMBAT/RESOLVE significant poverty while enhancing economics in our Northern Great Plains tribal communities; & keep our ancient tribal traditions, languages, and arts alive from further decline. LAKOTA WAYS performs original locally written/scripted cultural shows (based on ancient oral traditions/stories) such as, 'CRAZY HORSE: TASUNKE WITKO Show'; 'TATANKA SHOW'; 'SUNKA WAKAN OHITIKA: LAKOTAS' FIRST HORSES Show'; 'MINI POWWOW Show'; 'IKTOMI NA ITUNK TANKA: IKTOMI & THE MUSKRAT Show'; 'WANBLI EAGLE SHOW', exclusive to the Potter Family Theatre (another local, tribal, indigenous partner); and shows that are strictly for our OnReservation tribal, indigenous school children and community audiences such as: 'PE SLA: CREATION STORIES SHOW'; 'MAYA OGLIO PSICA: LOVERS' LEAP / LAKOTA ROMEO & JULIET Show'; 'WICAHPI HINHPAYA: THE LAKOTA STORY OF FALLEN STAR BOY Show' and 'WAKINYAN NA UNKTEHI: BATTLES OF THUNDERBIRD & SERPENT Show'.
We also offer Indoor tour for our visitors with hands-on ancient, cultural activities such as: TIPI RAISING, BEADWORK (with US$5 take-on beadwork kit); WINTER COUNT; DRUM; DANCE; TRIBAL, INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE; ANCIENT GAMES Revived; LAKOTA BOW&ARROW; ROCK PAINTING; TRIBAL FACE PAINTING; RAIN DANCER MODERN FINE ART GALLERY; the WOUNDED KNEE MUSEUM; and more.
Numerous excursionTOURS to and from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation are also an adventure we offer our guests come in the following variety: MOTORCYLE, VETERANS, CULTURE, & ART Tours. Our unique Rapid City Tour partners with the Journey Museum, Sioux Indian Museum, the Potter Family Theatre, Bison Museum, Dakota Drum Company, Prairie Edge, historic Alex Johnson Hotel, and ourselve, Lakota Ways in a BUS/WALKING Tour of downtown Rapid City, SD - it is appropriately named, 'ALL THINGS TRIBAL'.
LAKOTA WAYS also offers arts/crafts from our local tribal, indigenous of the Northern Great Plains region exclusively - beginning with Natives Americans from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation (assigned 'home' of the Oglala Sioux Tribe).
