BENEFITING: LAO-AMERICAN ORGANIZATION OF ELGIN INC
We are proud to serve the greater Lao community of Illinois. Due to the Lao Diaspora, the Lao refugees settled in Elgin, IL in search of their "American Dream." It was a strange land for many as the community had challenges assimilating to the English language, culture and the American way-of-life. With a desire to become successful and provide a foundation for future generations, the refugees worked blue labor jobs to provide for their families.
As we apporoach the 40th aniversary of the Lao Diaspora, we can reflect on the achievements of the community and be proud of how the Lao people have grew and advanced.
The Lao American Organziation of Elgin is a 501(c)3 non-profit committed on serving the needs of the Lao community. We are a direct service organization that provides several programs including home care service, health & wellness service and youth services.
We are a volunteer board and without a paid employee. We are compassionate and dedicated on service. We are asking for your support to help us raise more funds to provide more services.
The funds raised here will go directly to our Lao Youth Leaders programs. In the summer of 2016, we will be a co-sponsor of the Midwest Lao Music Camp. This camp will allow us to teach our students about traditional Lao music. We will teach them how to play the instruments. This camp is very important to our community because there is no programs that allows students to learn about the traditions and culture. It allows us to keep our culture and traditions alive.
We will be using the funds to purchase instruments from Thailand and Laos. We thank you in advance for your support.
