CNN reports that families who are suffering financial hardships due to the oil spill are being forced to surrender their pets. The shelters are inundated, and the animals surrendered only have two weeks for a new owner to come for them, otherwise, they are euthanized :( The Louisiana SPCA hopes to raise money and implement a program to help families keep their pets by offering some kind of financial assistance for pet food and basic veterinary needs.
