Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Here's where I tell you about my charity, and then dare you not to donate.

Why this charity?

* 70 million children around the world never go to school, with more than half of them in countries devastated by war.

* In sub-Saharan Africa, 10 million children drop out of school every year

* Each extra year of education raises lifetime earnings by about 10%

* Sub-Saharan Africa has only enough school places for 36% of children of age to enroll.

Children In Crisis (http://www.childrenincrisis.org) was established in 1993 to give children in some of the world’s poorest countries the education they need to help transform their lives. They work in areas of huge demand, especially in dangerous conflict zones where they are most needed. They have projects in Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Tibet, and more.

Their mission: “Where resources are few, where education is needed to heal the nation, and where it is too remote for others, our aim is to support children to read, write, think, pursue their life goals and contribute positively to their communities.”

Unlike some other fundraising events, all your donations go directly to the charity. I pay my own travel costs, accommodation, etc.

To show my commitment to the cause, I have started the fundraising with £300 (about $480).  I hope to raise at least £1500/$2300 by my (major milestone) birthday on December 19. Then I can stop pleading and start training. Think of it as an early birthday present (you were going to get me a gift, correct?)

Many of you know that I have run marathons before, but not for a few years. I honestly have no idea how this will feel. Thank you so much for your support.
