BENEFITING: LAST CALL FOUNDATION INC
ORGANIZER: LAST CALL FOUNDATION INC
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
I've been involved in athletics all my life, and I am so lucky that for work I get to help people every day bring out the athlete in themselves. It makes me feel so good to help them feel good. I've helped people lose weight, train for sports or just helped keep in shape. I've even helped people train for the Boston Marathon, but I've never done it myself...UNTIL NOW! I am so excited to be running my first marathon and am even more excited to be running for an amazing foundation, the Last Call Foundation.
If you live in Boston, or New England for that matter, you will remember the tragedy that happended in Back Bay last spring. The Last Call Foundation was founded by Kathy Crosby-Bell in honor of her son, fallen Firefighter Michael Ryan Kennedy, who along with Lieutenant Edward Walsh died battling the nine-alarm fire on March 26, 2014 in Boston’s Back Bay. This tragedy highlighted the unique challenges facing Boston’s firefighters. The Last Call Foundation is committed to identifying and addressing these challenges to enhance Boston firefighters’ ability to safely and effectively fight fires and protect each of us. With your help, we can avoid future tragedy and, hopefully, save lives.
Last Call Foundation was born of the determination to ensure that tragedies such as the one on March 26, 2014 never happen again.
The mission of the Last Call Foundation is to provide funding, education and research to advance the safety needs of the Boston firefighting community. They are committed to enhancing the ability of our dedicated firefighting professionals to effectively and safely fight fires and protect the public.
Firefighters are very special people. They risk their lives every day, without hesitation, to ensure our safely. By running the marathon I am not only showing respect and honoring our fallen firefighters and their family and friends, I am challenging myself physically. I never, ever, thought I would run a marathon. Sure, it was always there in the back of my mind! Sure, it would poke forward a bit on Patriot's Day as I cheered runners along! Sure, I still have my marathon t-shirt from 1985 (yes it still fits! Don't worry you will see a picture of it!) But come on! I used to skip the long runs at track practice (sorry Coach Folan)! How could I ever run a marathon!!? Well here I go, I am going to do it!! But I need your help. I am challenging myself physically, but more importantly I am challenging myself to raise money for this very important foundation. I am challenging my family and friends to donate and help me go beyond my fundraising goal of $5000. Come on!! I'm running 26 miles! Help me make it worthwhile and help save some lives.
I am not only Boston Strong, I am Dork Strong and Last Call Strong.
Go Team Last Call!
