BENEFITING: Mujeres Latinas En Accion, Inc.
Financial abuse impacts the lives of most, if not all, survivors of domestic violence. It is one of the most powerful methods of keeping a survivor trapped in an abusive relationship. Controlling or withholding access to economic resources are intentional tactics used by an abuser aimed at entrapping the partner. Mujeres Latinas En Accion knows first-hand the importance of obtaining financial independence and empowerment in ensuring the long-term stability and self-sufficiency of domestic violence survivors.
Establihed in 1973, Mujeres Latinas En Accion is the longest-standing Latina organization in the country, serving as the voice to advocate for Latinas and their families. Through our comprehensive, holistic service approach, Mujeres seeks to empower Latinas by providing services which reflect their values and culture.
We invite YOU to join our cause by donating today, so that Mujeres can continue providing programs that economically empower women. Funds raised through the Purple Purse Challenge will directly benefit Mujeres' educational program, Empesarias del Futuro (Entrepreneurs of the Future). Through this initiative, Mujeres collaborates with community partners, Accion Chicago and the Women's Business Development Center, to provide women with the training to start or expand a small business. During this 15-week program, women gain the leadership, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship tools that are designed to support the development of women in business.
