Latshmere Manor Swim Club
Organized by: George Diamond
The Latshmere Manor Pool is a community pool that was built in 1958. It has provided thousands of families great fun in the sun memories for over 50 years.
Over the years, the pool and it's surrounding property has aged. The trees that provided shade many years ago, are now overgrown and need to be removed. The problem is there are so many that need taken down. Also due to the age of the pool much of the infrastructure has become outdated. The pool's inner workings/plumbing pieces came from WWII battle ships and many parts need to be replaced as parts for the old pieces are almost non existent.
The surrounding neighborhood is now filled with a few older residents, who no longer come to the pool, and we have new growing families coming across town as the neighborhood pools seem to be going the way of the drive-ins.
We have endured financial hardships, however the current one is the steepest hill to climb yet.
We are currently working with the county to get our property taxes lowered but we are in arrears. We are working with city to pay off our water bill.
The funds raised on this site would go to many items. Removing the dangerous trees, installing a well on the property so we may not be so dependent on public water supply. Updating the plumbing structure of the pool with a new filtration system, and demolition of the wading pool and construction of a modern wading pool aka baby pool.
The diversity of the pool's membership keeps us vibrant and brings us closer, it gives us a world of shared values, and meaningful community.
Please help us keep the pool and children's summer fun going.
