Dance-a-thon’s are very similar to a walk-a-thon. Participants raise money by dancing. Supporters can register to dance by collecting as many pledges as possible, purchase a ticket to attend or donate directly to the cause.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Participating dancers in the “Dance-a-thon” must enter the contest with a minimum pledge sheet of $25.
There is no cost to submit a Pledge Form & enter yourself into the Dance-a-thon. Dancers who do not raise $25 by May 30th will be able to donate the difference at the door to enter the competition.
Attendees (welcome to dance or watch) $5 in advance / $7 at the door Buy Tickets
A FUN TWIST – “DANCE OFF’S”
Participants may at any time challenge another dancer to a “dance-off”. This is the only time that the dance floor is cleared by the judges, with the exception of the “competing dancers”. The dancer who declared the challenge must pick the music used in the dance off. The competing dancers square off until the judges declare a winner based on audience reaction.
The ‘losing’ dancer is allowed to continue in the dance-a-thon, but must wear ankle or wrist weights for the remainder of their participation.
Funds raised by the event are used to support the Robinson Ballet’s Ralph Robinson Scholarship Fund and Launchpad’s Forward initiative, which provides support to Maine Youth seeking to pursue a career in the arts.
