On June 3, I will join blind mountaineer Erik Weihenmayer, who has conquered all Seven Summits, as well as wounded veterans from the 2012 Soldiers to Summits program, on a climb of Mount Elbert, Colorado's highest peak.
In order to join this climbing team, I need to raise $500. Any money I raise will be designated as a scholarship for a 2013 Leading the Way student. Leading the Way, a program offered by Global Explorers/No Barriers, unites blind, visually impaired and sighted students on amazing journeys around the world.
I've worked with Leading the Way students for the past three years, and I can assure you that participating in the program is truly life-changing. However, cost can be a barrier for many students and $500 can make a huge difference.
Join me in making travel-based transformative experiences accessible to all!
"The 10 days I spent in Peru were some of the best days of my life. I saw, heard, and accomplished things I never knew I was capable of. My life has changed for the better as a result of this trip. I have come back a better hiker, traveler, tourist and overall human being." -Alex, 2011 Leading the Way Participant
