the rooster at sunrise knows a thing or 2
March 10, 2016
as the one + only amazing julie flygare, j.d., founder + president of project sleep, reminds us...
sleep is a misunderstood + often overlooked pillar of health. sleepiness is not laziness. whether you are a sleepy teen, person with a sleep disorder, supporter, sleep professional, or sleep enthusiast, this SLEEP IN matters to each + every one of us.
so... we call all sleep-loving humans + pets to join us this year on the weekend of 03/11-13.2016 to SLEEP IN with us + contemplate all matters in regards to sleep or the lack there of in your life + of those you love + even of those strangers you have yet to meet.
we wish to thank you + all those supporters who encourage us to sleep well + dream big.
you, yes you, help us make peace with our sleep the best we can despite +/or in sync with the cards we have been dealt this time around. join us, won't you? but don't hesitate... do it now, this moment, right now (please)!
those of us in the N[ART] community will be busy playing with + creating art in all its forms during our time in spent in bed... inbetween naps, inspite of sleep, + even maybe fueled by the inevitable vivid dreams that will come to pass as they always do... welcomed or not.
if you will joining us in such art play + creation, please share throughout all hours of day + night in our facebook community of www.facebook.com/groups/narcolepsyart +/or on instagram using #SLEEPIN2016 or #narcolepsyart.
you need not be a distinguished artist, poet, writer, painter, sculptor, photographer, singer, choreographer, composer, or filmmaker to take part. by living with narcolepsy you have something important to contribute, whether art or craft. more information about N[ART] : narcolepsy art is available at www.narcolepsyart.org.
remember... 'Dreams prove us creative artists, natural poets capable of imagery unbounded by the cognitive restrictions of waking life. [words + wisdom from The Natural Artistry of Dreams, a book by Jill Mellick, 1996.]
thank you so so much!
now, go rest up... we have a lot of work to do + play to be had!
